What’s included with the program

You get 19 different workouts – that are only 30 minutes each. (Yes, even the yoga is just 30 minutes!)

Check out a sneak peek of the workouts here:

You also get:

  • • Quick Start Guide (Digital)
  • • Elite Workout Calendar (Digital)
  • • Base Workout Calendar (Digital)
  • • Fitness Guide (Digital)
  • • Worksheet (Digital)
  • • Beachbody Guide to Nutrition (Print & Digital)

While I didn’t love the nutrition guide that came with P90X3, I do love the portion control nutrition plan that uses the 21 Day Fix colored containers. You can absolutely use them to help plan your meals during P90X3!

The P90X3 Schedule of Workouts

P90X3 comes with four calendar options:

  • Classic
  • Lean
  • Mass
  • Doubles

There is also an “Elite” block for advanced training that emphasizes speed and power over muscle growth.

When I completed P90X3 the first time, I only purchased the base kit and did not have access to some of the bonus workouts. I did eventually try them and they are pretty great.

You’ll get results with any calendar you choose, but I do recommend trying some of the optional workouts for variety and an additional challenge.

My P90X3 Review

What I liked

I love that the workouts are only 30 minutes. And yes, you really DO get a good workout in just 30 minutes. For the most part, those 30 minutes seem to go by pretty quickly!

The Warrior was definitely a challenge that I grew to love. The Super Burpee was a move I hated but enjoyed!

I didn’t think I’d enjoy CVX but it became one of my favorites! I love anything with weights.

Same with The Challenge, which should be renamed “Pullups and Pushups for 30 minutes straight.” I was able to modify to fit where I was, and it felt great to see my progress each time!

What I didn’t like

X3 Yoga wasn’t my favorite, but I’m just glad it wasn’t 90 minutes of yoga like with P90X.

I also didn’t love Agility X. It felt awkward. But I know both of those workouts were good for me anyway.

Also, I hate to say it, but Tony just isn’t my favorite trainer. Some of his jokes are funny but most of the time he makes me cringe.

At least he isn’t super sexist like Sagi in Body Beast. I mostly ignore him and focus on mastering my workouts (while occasionally yelling “shut up Tony” at my TV).

FYI: You can drown out Tony by listening to this P90X3 Playlist on Spotify!

Meal planning

As I mentioned, I didn’t love the P90X3 nutrition guide. I didn’t really follow it, not strictly anyway, but I did eat clean most of the time and I drank Shakeology every day.

For anyone starting P90X3 now, I would recommend either using Ultimate Portion Fix (with those cute colored containers) or the 2B Mindset Kit.

Some people wonder if you really have to include Shakeology with the meal plan. While it is possible to get serious results without drinking Shakeology daily, I still absolutely recommend it! It’s how I made sure I got all of my nutrition, plus an easy way to get in extra protein.

How P90X3 compares to other programs

How is P90X3 different from P90X? The workouts are shorter and more appropriate for participants at any level, from beginner to advanced. P90X can be intimidating for beginners. P90X3 also has a modifier.

How is P90X3 different from INSANITY? Other than having different trainers, P90X3 uses weights where INSANITY is all bodyweight exercises.

My tips and advice on completing P90X3

  • Meal plan in advance – make a few simple plans and eat the same things each week for all 90 days to keep it simple if you have to
  • Meal prep in advance – don’t let yourself run out of food and get hungry
  • Use the heaviest weights you can use without losing good form. If you finish a set and you aren’t struggling, up the weights or intensity next time.
  • Stretch stretch stretch. Stretch and foam roll more than Tony does at the end of each workout.
  • Modify the moves if they are too advanced. Keep moving, even if you have to lower the intensity.

P90X3 Results – Before & After Photos

Unfortunately, I didn’t take before and after photos when I did P90X3! I know, I know. Total fail.

But I have done the workouts plenty of times since then, and I do have some photos to share.
